Promise On The Paper ~ Obećanje Na Papiru Poem by Jankovic Zoran

Promise On The Paper ~ Obećanje Na Papiru

Napisala si da bi umrla kad bi
znala da me nikad nećeš vidjeti,

Da si rođena u Australiji
bila bi vesela ptica
koja samo jednom zapjeva
i onda se zabije u trn.

Da si rođena u Africi
vodila bi ljubav sa
crnom udovicom
a bi te ona pojela.

Bila bi Thorn Bird,
ili zaljubljeni ludi pauk
Bila bi sve što si obećala.

Ali ti si rođena u Evropi,
ostarjeloj, prevrtljivoj gospođi.
Za tebe je ljubav produženje agonije,
ni na papiru ne možeš održati obećanje.

Promise on the paper

You wrote that you would die
if you knew that you would never see me.

If you were born in Australia
it would be a merry bird
which sings only once
and then it gets stuck in the thorn.

If you were born in Africa
I would make a love with black widow
and she would eat you.

It would be Thorn Bird,
or a lovely crazy spider
It would be all you promised.

But you are born in Europe,
old, crank lady.
For you, love is an extension of agony.
even on paper, you can't keep your promise.
