Promises Poem by Shruti Goswami

Promises

Promise me
You won't leave
Promise me
My heart you'll keep
Promises
Here and there
Everywhere
Broken
Everyday
And second
Disappointed
Suicidal
And yet
In this temporary world
Are we not fools
Looking for permanence
For if I promise you
To live
And take my last breath
This very night
Would you accuse and cry
Of broken promises
Would you my death
Deny?
