Public Confession Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Public Confession

Public confession.

Yet
Public confession that be also private confession.

Pitiless
Pitiless with me they have been

And I have been negligent
And I have paid the price
And I am still paying….

And I have been there
There…in the Cave of Bats

Such screeching!

There be the waters down the cliffs
Below
Below
In old Mtahleb!

And I have heard the waters of the Plain

And I have heard the waters from the Plain.

Delipi
Sipe
Dere
Simci
Perimi
Fere
Olipim
Simic
Ferisi
Cere

And though I heard the waters of the Plain
Sad in old Mtahleb I remained.

Tempus, tempus esse

Too over lording
Too
Too over mighty

I still remember
That day of freezing
My mother in the coat
Waiting the taxi to the Building
And the rains outside
And the rains outside….
Dripping
Chill
Frozen
Dripping…
That was a Winter too as in my Soul…
