no greater example
could they have given.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
1 George Wallace went to black churches some time after
he was shot in 1968, resulting
in Nixon's election win over Humphrey.
He asked forgiveness for having
promoted racism.

2 Father George Zabelka, chaplain to
the Enola Gay crew which dropped
the bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima,
publicly asked for forgiveness.

3 The Nazi camp guard who had inflicted
pain on her sister came up to Corrie Ten Boom
and asked for forgiveness
