Pulling Away Poem by Kurt Philip Behm

Pulling Away

At eighteen,
I was ninety percent body
and ten percent mind

…but over the years that trend has reversed

Now,
I'm ten percent body
and ninety percent mind

…whose biology Father Time chose to curse

My mind
is now winged
like a high soaring hawk

…with youth the small price for what's known

All limits
have lifted
old burdens have gone

…as my spirit pulls hard to let go
