Punks Lullaby Poem by Kevin Patrick

Punks Lullaby

Rating: 5.0

Welcome to the human race
your born with chains and die as waste
and in between you fight as law
tooth, smile and civilized claw

Work twice as hard to get a share
earning less for the corperate fair
learn handshakes and stay on target
and you'll be prime rib for the free market

and packs of knives called government
will throw you into the tournament
throwing spears of sharpend debts
and rules proscriped with legal theft

Once in a while you'll try to fight
but you'll be crushed by the hand of might
Justice thirsts for fresh introverts
and you will serve its sweet deserts

Dont wear your conscience to your soul
or you'll end up as black charcoal
and trust mob rule to break your fall
against the tree for your last call

So welcome to the human race
your born with chains and die as waste
and in between you fight as law
tooth, smile and civilized claw

Kevin, this is just amazing. You've transported me decades, all the way back to a D.O.A concert. I can hear Joey Sh- - - now. Actually, this verse would be classic as a DOA cover. Too bad the group and especially Joey shifted back into such conventional politics.
