Woke up this morning, and upon my window sill
I saw a strange furry creature lying very still
Well, hello, I said, what's up, what brings you to my sill
He said, hello yourself, my name is Punxsutawney Phil
Hey, I said, your the groundhog that pops out every year
The one from Pennsylvania that garners all the cheers
Every February second, from your Punxsutawney hole
As thousands stand anxiously to see you and your shadow
But I must ask you this, even though you're apt to balk
But what in Natures name are you doing in New York? !
Thought I'd take a break this year he said, tongue in cheek
But all this snow and ice you have is far too much for me
So, if you'll just point me to the nearest travel agency
I 'll still have time to get back to my home in Punxsutawney.
Authors Note...I hope the little fellow makes it back
in time per chance...
And entertain his audience with Phil's famed Shadow Dance!
