When Mirrors Cross Your Eyes

What has happened to you?
Your hourglass, weightless -
of sand, grain, and Life;
so obvious, your changes,
and the impact, yes,
that it's had on me;
so much so, my dear,
that in the REM of my sleep,

- - Now, fronting the mirror on two bruised twigs, you stand and snarl at mirrored reflections that bristle you, from what you believe you actually see........- - - - This is truly a real cause and a painful reality. Thanks for bringing light to it in such an eloquent manner. Congratulations, Frank... a well deserved recognition of a Wonderful and purposeful poem.

Congratulations on poem of the day Frank. An interesting view of the deadly mental illness that is Anorexia. The mind is a powerful weapon and tool and you have expressed the torment it can create in this poem. A very intense write without a word of a lie composed. Well done indeed.

The two final stanzas are so beyond the rather close described and disturbing body of the poem above them that they really threw me for a loop. The penultimate stanza is so over wrought with angst and immature assonances that it loses all semblance of seriousness. And the maudlin moralizing of the closer is morally wrong and fairly contemptible. I rarely like to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but there's just too much stink on the rear end of this one to believe it can be salvaged.

Thank s for the read ^ feedback, Lantz...Each & all are entitled to their own slant on critiquing verse of any kind...Some like to candy-coat, and that is not my shtick. Others critique with a lilt of stern class...and then there are those who need the attention, feed off the reaction because in truth their fatuous dreck garners the attention they think they need, but in fact only debases themselves, their own work, and what many may construe as a pathetic lack of confidence in their own quilling. ~FjR~

a very sad descriptive poem of a fairly modern obsession that causes suffering and misery to a lot of already beautiful people? ........................brilliantly written Frank
