Pupa Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Pupa

Pupa
of the chrysalis
joinder of the troubled nights
outside there cold and chill and
frost conventional:
here
here in the closed bedroom there be
warmth for us two, my sweet lady-doctor,
now
that we are found alone let love fire
us to do all
the bed is waiting plain yet
inviting
linen as white as the cold frost
outside
we inside plan then make
new life
pupa
of the chrysalis
peace-maker of troubled nights
