Puppet On A String Poem by Alfred Ramos

Puppet On A String

How can I forget
You treated me like a marionette
Pulled all the wrong strings
And it hurts and it stings
Am I a target for your cupid’s arrow
Piercing me deep into the marrow
Or am I just one of your broken toys
That’s making all that funny noise
Is our house of cards ready to fall
Can we say we gave it our all
Will it have a storybook ending
What is the message we are sending
Don’t play me like a yoyo
With all those ups and downs
I feel like a jar of clay
In a world of jugglers and clowns
How can I forget
I was your personal marionette
With all the strings all twisted
Was I the only one who missed it
Am I your lover’s fantasy
Sinking in a deep blue sea
Will I be left standing in the end
When there are no broken hearts left to mend

Impressive juxtaposition of play and emotion Alfred. Very unusual poem.
