Purge Thou Me Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Purge Thou Me

Purge thou me, Lord, cleanse my soul
Let your flames consume, make me whole
Burn away my sins, release my fear
Wash away my doubts, make them disappear
Purify my heart, make it pure and true
Remove all the darkness, let your light shine through
Strip away my pride, my ego and pride
Leave me humble, with nothing to hide
Purge thou me, Lord, with your intense heat
Make me a vessel, with love and mercy to greet
Take away my burdens, my worries and pain
Fill me with peace, let it forever remain
Let your blaze purify, with each flicker and spark
Cleanse me completely, leave no trace or mark
Purge me, Lord, let your flames burn bright
Transform me into something beautiful, in your holy sight.
