Put Your Feet In My Shoes Poem by LADY SHY

Put Your Feet In My Shoes

If you could put your feet in my shoes
Could you endure the things I go through
See things the way I do
Still staying true
If you could put your feet in my shoes
Would you feel what I feel
Realizing that they're actually real
Or would you think of it as no big deal
If you could put your feet in my shoes
You'd be strong enough to handle the tears
That co-exists with every fear
Wanting someone near
To hold me dearly
If you could put your feet in my shoes
Try to break free from this cycle I endure
Where everyday is the same and the nights are unsure
Being pushed along with the tides
Filled with betrayal and lies
Never knowing the time
To be untangled from this foul coal mine......

you aren't a coal miner, are you! i like this. nice rhyming, flow, and 'story'. and i like the title and how it is not repeated in the poem, yet alluded to several times. oops! my mistake; it IS repeated, but with If you added. i like it even better now. a poet's note? i can't help but wonder if this is a true account of your life, the life of someone you've heard about, or a story you made up. yes, i suppose a foul coal mine gives a pretty glum picture of one's life. thanks for sharing. i'll send to MyPoemList. i just happened to see your name on a ph list as i was looking for 'achill lad'. your 'name' was difficult to resist. bri :)
