Puzzle Pieces Poem by Jennifer van der Heijden

Puzzle Pieces

And we have always been like two puzzle pieces. We fit together like no one else really could.
For a little while it was just the two of us.
But two pieces need other pieces to also feel complete. After all, there are plenty of other pieces stored into a box that are waiting to make the puzzle whole.
And sometimes the two of us got seperated. Lost in a big pile with the other pieces.
And sometimes we were just that, a pile of pieces waiting for the moment that we would get picked up, so that we could be restored again.
But even in those moments when we were not connected we still belonged together. Because no other piece fit perfectely into mine.

Because your piece was made to fit into mine, no matter the circumstances.

And when you lose an important piece you get reminded of how much you actually valued that piece.
Because now, the puzzle will never truly be finished. For the puzzle is not whole.

But i think it's beautiful that we still belong. Even thoug you are no longer here to make me whole,
the sharp edges and dull corners of the piece i resemble will forver be made for you.

After all some pieces might get lost along the way.
But our pieces have always been made for each other, and death won't change that.
