Questions Of Friendship Poem by Ariel ~

My friend (and poet) , Willy Whippor Willow Jr, and I would write poems together we called 'Shared Questions'; a format where one would write - in just questions - and the other could only answer in questions. This was the first.

Why do we fight?

Wouldn’t we fight more
If we were more alike
Or more different?

And I harass?

Doesn’t everyone have a right
To be a pain some of the time?

Should we leave
The world alone?

Should we deny ourselves
Chances to grow?

And if we did that …
Does it include each other?

Especially in personal relationships?

Can you answer me?

Should I stay silent
And dig a trench between my
Eternal friend and me?

Why do you get hyper
And then get mad at me
For doing the same?

Would you deny me a
Chance to be imperfect?

Why do you stop me
From getting hyper?

Do you not think it is my
Responsibility to stop you
Before you hurt someone else?
Or got hurt yourself?
Would you not do the same
For me?

Next time
Will you give me time
To cool down?

Don’t you know how much
I wanted to go after you?
Do you know how much pain
I felt just sitting there,
Hoping you were okay?

And most importantly,
Why are you my friend?

Will you look in
Your heart for that answer?

What did we do
To deserve each other?

What did people do to
Deserve roses?

What did you do
To deserve
My cruel Punishment?

Whose cruel?
What punishment?
Isn’t being your friend
A reward?

Will you answer these
In questions only?

Will you be my
Best friend for the
Rest of Eternity?

Why am I crying?

Why am I?
