Quince Poem by Melyssa Hockemeyer

Quince

By: Melyssa Hockemeyer

We walked in excited
All the talking around us drowns out our thoughts
Music is playing loud like at homecoming
Everyone sits and eats the delicious food
Stephanie stands up and makes her big speech
After dinner the party really starts
All of us start dancing and I turn around and see Braedon
I tell Daphne that he's my eye candy for the night
We dance like monkeys to get his attention
When he noticed me he asked me to talk outside
I punch his hands like a boxer in training
The wind blew the smell of his cologne went into my nose
Cars are driving past like a NASCAR race
We open the door to go back inside
The music is blasting like a concert
He asked me to dance
As the night went on we got to know each other
LMFAO started playing and we were all jumping like a mush pit
The clock struck 11 and the music turned off and the lights turned back on
I asked braedon for his number
As I said bye I was nervous I shook his hand
He told me to give him a hug
We were nervous like somebody singing a solo in front of a 1,000 people
Daphne said we looked like a love movie
