Race Poem by Greg Edwards

Race

Racial integration,
Of the people of this nation,
Ranting at the chains that hold them in their place,
It is not a situation i would care to face,
But in life i am white,
Just reason for a fight,
We must find another way,
To prove what we say,
Is one man better than another,
Just because his skin is not that of his brother?
What is the difference between one of the two,
Is it Nazi, is it Jew?
Would you believe that Hitler was one and the same,
And yet cursed that which was genetic in his name?
Why cast fuel on the flames,
That stir when you shout racial names,
Does it matter any more,
They are just another part of an unending war.
We fight each other,
Siding with our skins and not our brothers,
The excuses are now excessive,
Whense will time be regressive,
To the point when we will retain what we are,
And not care from how far,
Someone has traveled in another's deprivation,
All they were is not a point that requires refutation,
That which i am saying, will go misunderstood,
You will curse my words, for racist good,
But i don't care any more,
I just want to end the war,
That is cast at our feet,
It is past time we end this battle in the street,
Love isn't required,
To end the burning fire,
Hate need not be repented,
To heal the hearts rented,
Torn apart when the blacks were repressed,
And now in society are determined to be professed.
Im sorry for your slavery, at the hands of profit,
But why can't you see, none are here that made that law fit,
The crimes commited were wrong ten-fold,
Now 150 years later, must we be so told?
Racist crime is not our fault,
Check the statistics, whose bullets are caught?
We don't force you to be gangsters, or down in the hood,
We don't make you die, don't make you do no good,
We tried to help and you professed your hate of the white man's hand,
So alone you go, and alone you stand.
Don't hate, don't kill, don't cause more pain,
And soon we will stand by your side, proud to say your name.
All we want, all we need, is for you to realize,
That in point of fact, we are guilty of lies,
To you and yours, and to generations there of,
Now forgiveness is in the hands of the Man Above.
