Rain Watching Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Rain Watching

Rating: 5.0

The overcast sky
The small wind playing hide and seek
With the dancing leaves
Now here, now there
Now aft, now fore
And I on my balcony

Summer rains predicted
The sweat on brows waits
The green mangoes wait
The restless birds wait
The evening walkers wait
And I on my balcony

Tap, tap, tap, tap
On the leaves
Tap, tap, tap, tap
On the ground
Comes the dancing rain
Blessed, blessed rain!

Sighs collective go up
Thanking the generous clouds
Summer rains are here again
To settle the dust around
In the distance a peacock singing
Its joy knows no bound!
