The Songs Of Winter Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

The Songs Of Winter

Rating: 5.0

The elusive winter sun finally breaks
Through the misty leaves
Moving steadily and slowly
Finally touching her feet
As she sits in her balcony

There comes that slow music
Wafting through the cool air
The music of an old favourite song
Touching the cords of her heart
And the sleepy cells of her memory

She hums with the tune
But the lyric eludes her
A face appears through the window of her past
A dear, familiar, happy face
And slowly melts the frost of the ages

A trickle of emotion becomes a flood
She hugs herself close
Suddenly aware that she has not forgotten

Such is the power of a song!
Such is the mystery of our brain!

What a lovely poem to read this winter morning! 'She hums with the tune But the lyric eludes her A face appears through the window of her past A dear, familiar, happy face And slowly melts the frost of the ages'
