Rainy Friday Night - Poem by Marilyn Lott

I took an evening out
For time out on the town
Just kinda sorta wondered
What was going on around

Had a burger, fries & coffee
And it was so delicious but
Out the window was a busy sky
Clouds that were suspicious

I watched them for a time
As they gathered more and more
Getting darker by the minute
I wandered what we were in for

Perhaps a little rain
Not in the daily forecast
If it started pouring though
I’d get in my car real fast

In half an hour or so
Those clouds really opened up
I had just finished my dinner
And drained my coffee cup

But it was time for some rain
And I love the smell and sight
I sure enjoyed the couple of hours
On a rainy Friday night!
