Random Reflections On Bhasa Diwas Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Random Reflections On Bhasa Diwas

On Bhasa Diwas
Thought I of the univ. professor
Who had his Ph.D. in Hindi from London,
Thought I of the Ph.D. thesis in Bengali
Adjudicated by the prof. of Bangladesh,
Speakers from Bangladesh giving an international impetus
But people forgetting to invite from Tripura too.

On Bhasa Diwas
Thought I of Sanskrit Diwas,
Hindi Diwas,
Which is more important to me,
Janmbhumi, the land of birth
Or karmabhumi, the land of karma,
Thought I of Pravasi Diwas,
The non-resident Indians,
How far Indian are those who live abroad,
India seen from far, India seen closely
And India revisited?

How I do not know it Bengali,
But can speak it now, read a bit,
But cannot write,
The situation, is it of Kabirdas
Or Tagore translating Kabir
But the Bengali readers know it not
In the maximum?
