Ransomed Thoughts Poem by Kevin Patrick

Ransomed Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

Its not a block or some towering wall
that writers fail to raise and climb
Its more like thoughts that become kidnapped
and our words become ransomed by inertia
as if a bribes to be paid for our imaginations
and an empty pool of dreams for no compensation
its hard to watch time burn our candles
as we lay starved for food for thoughts
thinking of where the stanzas are chained
and where each sentence has been gagged and bound
by a thick fog of a mental hebetude
and our imaginations become resistant
to a plague of blank pages and indecision
and if we just wear our patience
sitting by the pen waiting for the words to call
in a day, a week then pinch a month
and then when where lucky their is an answer!
then we can hug our paper to the ink
or cradle the keyboards on our laptops
fingers dancing with rich excitement
as we pour into life from out of our minds
and raise our poems and prose, without blank foes
so that they may live when we cannot

You can call it writers block.
But to me its nothing but ransomed thoughts
and to lose them is to high the price

I think each and everyone one of us couldn't agree more. We've all been there. Well penned.
