Rapture Poem by Lauren O Brien

Rapture

I watched your eyes flicker slowly,
Dragging in all they can see.
You pulled me into the azure,
The unknown, the person on the pedastal.
The delayed reaction in the corners of your lips,
Made me wonder if you were actually listening.
The memory of your laugh still surprises me.

I saw the sudden stop upon the cliff,
But I kept walking blindly and fell into your eyes.
Tumbled through the all-consuming blue.
Trying to find my way back only confused myself further,
I am here to stay and will be forever trapped as yours.

There is no room for me in your gated world.
Guarded by your insecurities.
I watched you in the pourign rain, and did as you told me,
Tried to figure you out, Nobody knows why, but I fell for you.
I used to despise your ways, narcissism soaked through your well practiced words.
I listened to the rehearsed lies through my all-too naive ears.

Thinking of you only unveiled an emtional black hole.
, My resentment towards myself forvever grows,
You, so perfect, and me, so plain.
Your existance opened a new place within me.
I wasn't the only one,
Your charms cannot be tamed.
Many fell into your arms,
Never to be found again.
