Ravenously Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Ravenously

Rating: 2.7

It was the startling with you
from the nascent look
and unspoken electricity
a leaping across
an unexpected grabbing
of me at my center
a caught unawareness
a swept away
where the instant
stretched for an eon
from handshake to hello
a weakening in the body
a trembling in the knees
in the most vulnerable parts
of the soul;
a shuddering
in parts below
a cry from long nights
laments
and longings
a stifling of the desire
to consume and be consumed
by you and to consume you
ravenously
completely
and we both be gone
away.

That my love
is how it felt
when we first met
and still when we kiss.
