Reaching Poem by Vanessa Brown

Reaching

Rating: 4.0

Every human heart desires to reach;
Reach with words, find a bond,
That will let them look out of the window
At the sun - from the cell of their mind.

But there is no door, no-one may fully enter.
Is there any truth or sincerity in words?
Or are they merely a desperate plea,
For a break through from banality?

Maybe words can say nothing;
But we are never alone.
A smile that sends a thousand rays;
Only that can show true joy,
And an infectious smile will draw everyone in -
Smash the window and break down the door.

And though you may walk in silent lands,
Where only your thoughts can dwell -
He is with you, and will walk by your side
Through your mind's path:
All you have to do is believe.

I no longer walk alone.
