Reality Poem by Caroline Godwin

Reality

Your soft lips, your gentle caress
Your nervous hand unzips my dress.
You touch my arm delicately,
And show me much you love me
By moving those soft lips down my neck,
Kissing it quietly, only a peck.
Hands trembling slowly on my skin,
You kiss me passionately once again.
You say I love you one more time,
And in this moment you’re completely mine.

I snap back to reality,
And see you standing next to me,
Remember that we are only friends,
Back to where we started once again.
There was a time we once were,
But now your time is spent with her.
I love you with my whole heart,
But over time we grew apart.
I still care about you just the same,
But I’m sick and tired of playing this game.

I’m sick of the secrets and the lies,
So now I bid you a tearful goodbye.
I wish I could kiss you just once more,
Touch those soft lips I adore,
But now its time for me to go.
I need some time to be alone.
To sift though all these memories we shared,
Think back to a time when you once cared,
But things have changed and so have you,
And now I bid you an adieu.
