Reality Of Love Poem by Matt Mondschein

Reality Of Love

Rating: 5.0

The lie of a stranger
Why does it hurt me so
Can't these rumors
Just let me go

True, I stepped out of bounds
I took that chance
Maybe I'm to blame
For being burned by loves' dance

So in the dark
I crouch again
Wondering when I'll be saved
By a friend

My friend never shows
So I'm left here alone
A chore that is mine
One that burdens my soul

Forevermore wanting
To be safe
I embrace isolation
Loneliness my grave

I'll never greet love again
At my door
Avoiding its pain forevermore
