Realization Poem by Sparky Reynolds

Realization

Rating: 5.0

It's taken me awhile, but now I'm realizing,
That everyday I live is one closer to dying.
This could be my last breath, my last sunset,
This could be the day that everyone dreads....

It's taken me awhile, but I'm finally thinking right,
That this is the first day, of the rest of my life.
This is the last I cry, my first sunrise,
A new person born and old sacrificed.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem long ago, and in two different mind states before it was completed... the first half I wrote about a year before I stumbled upon it again, and felt it incomplete and wrote the ladder. Which gave me a strange feeling of release emotionally like something was finally completed and over with...I'm proud of it, even if nobody else would ever read it or connect with it in anyway, it gave me what I needed somehow. Thats all that I could of asked for!
