Reasons Poem by Singleton M. Tate

Reasons

I can't...

Fly beyond my own limitations
Find fault with others reservations
Be willing to be who you say
Let you kill my Light in anyway

I won't...

Be the mat at your door
Call your name out anymore
Sit and cry day after day
Let life keep me at bay

I wasn't...

The boulder blocking your pathway
The friend who left you in dismay
The one haunting your dreams in the night
The one who told you never to fight

I could've...

Did unto you as you have done to me
Returned to the time I was not free
Stopped trying a long time ago
Opened up my mouth to say no

I would've...

Thought before I leaped
Asked God what to say before I'd speak
Been thankful for every lesson
Been grateful for God's protection

I should've...

Thought more about God than myself
Thought more about eternity instead of wealth
Not given into deceit and superficial goals
Never let the devil take complete control

I must...

Find out the truth of my existence
Seek God for His divine assistance
Not let time run out on my soul
Surrender to Jesus Christ and be made whole

I will...

Pray to God in Heaven above
Fall on my knees to be draped in His love
Obey His Word that He sent unto me
Accept His plan so I'll live eternally
