Rebel Child Poem by chris schwartz

Rebel Child

Rating: 5.0

I'm a rebel child,
Don't need no gun
In my hands
Kill myself softly
Beating down the words
Of society.
I've got a rebel soul
Can't tell me where
To go,
Already know
I'm bound for Hell
On this train
Of Eternity.
Dug my heels in the dirt
Smiled for nothing
That's of worth,
Just to give y'all
A piece of what
I had left in me.

Chorus:

Take the heart
Of a Rebel Child
Let her free spirit
Drive you wild.
Crush her backbone
Set her free,
This Rebel child
Will wander always
When you're thirsty
And dying,
For the time
It was
You and me.

Oh, Lord,
I'm a Rebel Child.
Mama couldn't stop
Me from packing
The suitcase
In my hands.
Time on the streets
Of Houston
Didn't teach me
But I never want to
Go there again.
Those who've locked
The chains around
My soul,
Hell, they'll be there
In the end
Saying "I couldn't fix her,
I couldn't change her,
She was a Rebel
To the End."
