Rebirth Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Rebirth

Rating: 4.5

He lies in some unknown prison
when everywhere spread
the layers of condensed night air,
and gravity smiles in darkness.

He knows it well that
the womb which carried him
for long nine months
is dry now
the volcanic eruption
which created him
is dead now.

Now he can't cry
as if all his agonies are condensed
now he can't laugh
as if both his lips are stitched.

Sleepless sorrow dances on his face
and his eyeballs glaze in terrifying dreams,
and suddenly he feels his presence
in a strange world
a strange new world.
