Reconciliation Poem by C Richard Miles

Reconciliation

As threatening thunderstorms may mask a rainbow’s hues,
Hard, hateful, hurtful words may hide more tender truths,
Since sometimes criticism is to help, not harm
For when the hurricane is past, there is pure calm
When, from the shadows of a shattered, rage-rent tree,
New saplings sprout and shoot now they can sunlight see
So, from the rueful wreck of torn relationships,
We, too, should start afresh and get to grips
To set out on a course, concerted, strong and true,
For, when the storm is gone, the sky reveals its blue
And, like the desert, fresh with flowers after rain,
From disappointment’s drabness, love’s light springs again.
