Red Poppy Fields And Sunshine Corn Poem by Tracey Pierce

Red Poppy Fields And Sunshine Corn

It is a wish of mine I know,
to see all children full of glow,
their innocence is such beauty,
no fear do they have from life's cruelty.

Once there was freedom to walk outside,
now playstations and consoles take up their minds,
to keep them safe, their parents shelter them,
with such sad suspicion that's grown over time.
'Mothers and fathers don't want them to be touched by crime.'

There was a time where tree camps were the latest trend,
a time when friendships were made and would never end,
bright red poppy fields, fresh green grass and sunshine corn,
and the children then didn't care what was worn.

Pop out chewing gums and bouncing balls,
homemade Go-karts with lots of falls..

Great days! ! Each generation will certainly remember,
But to me, my childhood! I will never surrender...

Bright red poppy fields and sunshine corn.....
These are things that should be seen by each child born..

Think of the children in the generations to come,
Let them have a childhood too.. Full of fun! : D
