Red Spot - Poem by Willie Lou Shirley

Red Spot was a nanny goat
With a red spot on her face,
She led the sheep and goats to water;
Them we didn't have to chase.

She had a lot of kid goats--
Several times had twins,
But she wouldn't let us catch them
When we got in their pens.

She must have lived a long, long time;
I do not know how old,
She had helped us get our work done
And had been worth her weight in gold,
