Reduced Poem by Terry Dunham

What just happened?
From outside my sight
Like a car slamming
This horrible event
This question continues,
“What happened? ”
Your plans will succeed,
They always do.
But ours? Well…?
Stopped! Violently!
Turned! The river has
been altered.
Restoration may mean,
“Nothing will be the same.”
Open up our hearts
like a cocoon opens
Revealing Fresh Newness,
Different, Unknown.
Stopped to start again,
Troubled to turn around;
Looking for the way
on our knees.
Here we are.
Reduced. Reduced.
Re-birthed?
Give strength for childbirth.
Hope for delivery
