Reflection, Now And Then Poem by Lin Kah Mun

Reflection, Now And Then

Looking into the mirror

What the mirror is showing

is my own reflection

I dare not to believe

what I'm looking at is actually me

I'm lying to myself

that this isn't me

We all are afraid to face our own reflection

Reality is cruel

Truth is always not nice

What I'm looking at now is

the result of what I did previously

'Is this really me? '

replied

'Yes, this is you.'

The little me back then isn't like this at all

She is pure and innocent

unlike what I'm looking now

Learn to embrace yourself

Accept yourself

I was always learnt that form people

from all walks of life

My neighbor

An experienced old lady

She had go through tough time

She lost her family when she was young

She was raised as an orphan in an orphanage

She was never the giving up type of person

She achieved what she dreamt for

She never once regret on her choice

Now she was living happily with her partner

when listening to her life story

I was inspired

Courage burning in my chest

I was thankful to her encouragement

Now I am beginning my journey

The path I have chose

Is the beginning of my lifetime journey
