Regret Drips Down My Leg Poem by Lynn Grassette

Regret Drips Down My Leg

For a moment,
a sweet, solitaire moment,
when stars aligned,
and the moonlight shined.
when in the darkness our bodies cried
beautiful was the shady outline
of two souls, in the shadows as one.
Gasping for the smallest breath
in the intense, spontaneous act of lust.

I couldn't make out your face;
passion glazed my sight
The room was foggy,
intentions of 'right and wrong' all put aside
buried underneath the night

For a moment,
a sweet, single, solitaire moment
I let myself feel the weight of your person,
of your whole person,
bare down on me
until it cracked me.
Until I splintered apart as I once again tasted reality.
Till I untangled myself from that forbidden state
and left...

With sin struck eyes,
With regret dripping down me leg,
and sweat raining down my back.

With a secret I'll keep for life,
I left.
Praying not to lose, the one I love.
