Our Lives In Theater Poem by Lynn Grassette

Our Lives In Theater

Rating: 5.0

We act
As if on stage
Enveloped in our roles
Reading the empty lines

You grin and shine
Though feeling dead inside

I speak with spite
When wishing to hold you tight

We both act
As well as the best actors do
Never knowing each other
Hiding behind characters
Hiding behind who we should be;
Who we think we should be
But if for a moment
We could cast aside our scripts
Read each other lips
We might find
What we've been searching for all along
We might find
A more efficient truth
