Relieving Atlas Of The World Poem by Alexzia Ferdinand

Relieving Atlas Of The World

had my flashlight all set
but thought it'd be better
for the night to hang in
shadows and whisper

had the ticket within reach
but decided England
was not far enough and
too much like home

had the pole in my grasp
but thought maybe this fish
don't want to be caught and
he didn't

had the book in my hand
but thought the words
looked a little tired and
just needed some rest

had the words on my tongue
but questioned their sincerity
and i was never any
kind of liar

had the world at my back
but assumed Atlas was
much more deserving and
let it fall
