dog, you and your lonely howl
fail to affect me, though
haunting, i walk on by
because dog, you and i
we're so different
your forlorn eyes
tracing my movements don't
touch my heart, though clear and seeking
i cannot stop, for dog,
you and i could not be more different
the bone that you nudge in my direction
doesn't compel me to love you
although the gesture is sweet,
sorry dog, we're so different
you and i
but dog, the cage that you sit in
that's familiar and you're alone
surrounded but desolately

The winds may blow across this cursed ground
The rain may wash away all I hold dear
The earth may quake till not a thing is sound
But Love, for none of these will I shed tears

The years may pass without a chance to blink
The seasons come and, like a breath, they fade
The clock may loudly tick too fast to think
But Love, your sunshine eyes time fails to shade
