Remember Poem by Ellen Rose Guilaran

Remember

I see you in the deformities you let me
Transformed into a monster
But this is not who you are

Remember that snowy vacation
Smile's of childhood, tomorrow's a bliss
Darling, keep those smiles of eternal
And I vowed to myself, 'I'll keep that child safe forever'

Remember your father?
How he destroyed what was good
How he left that kid in you scared and alone
I vowed not to touch it
When I did, I killed that in you

It was not justice
No one could win
I had the upper hand, and the soldier in you
Only wants to see me changed for the better
This is where I belong, I was scared of what you represent

I was comfortable watching life passing by the distant night
Was confident the light will leave me alone
You wouldn't leave me alone
Every push and pull was an elegant dance of thunder and storms
An electric touch that I though would kill me
Reminiscent of who reached out to you

Passively hoped someone would save me
From a life of tortured privilege
What of living if I don't feel alive?
What of your pond so deep I can't dive?

Your ocean's life I've witnessed
How many life thrives in it
If you'd let me, can I swim?
Would drown or teach me
The many stories of hurt it holds true
