Remembering Poem by Sara Neame

Remembering

Remembering

Remembering how I used to feel
When you first noticed me,
When you brought me gifts,
Little things, made of wood
Or bits of paper.

Remembering how my heart leapt
When you said you loved me,
Kissed me and held me.
It would always be like this,
Nothing would change.

Remembering how complete I felt
The day you married me.
You loved me, cherished me,
Complemented me.
We had love in our lives.

Remembering the loving times,
The surprise hugs and kisses,
The walking and just talking.
Happy to be together
Sharing everything.

Remembering when the children came,
The joy we shared about them,
The fun and games, sad times and bad,
But through them all a thread of love,
Binding us together.

Remembering is all that I can do
For loving and sharing have gone,
No more caresses or gentle kiss,
No gifts, no fun, or useless chat.
Even with you, I am now alone.
