Remembering Peoria Poem by Marilyn Lott

Remembering Peoria

I have wonderful memories of Peoria
What an incredible place to experience
Amazing things there were to see
It wouldn’t matter how far the distance

The Julia Belle Swain was
A riverboat that was such fun for me
The Franklin Street Draw Bridge
Was quite a great structure to see

I’m sure Steve remembers too
The fort he had so much fun in
That put him into a different world
A world with a new kind of spin

And of course there are memories
Of all the Caterpillar fun
Beautiful and stately machines
I considered them all special ones

The coal mining was educational
These memories bring such euphoria
And I’m sure you would feel it too
If you were to visit Peoria!
