Remembering Sis

Traveling in a day dream, I, the other day,
Returned to a place, of long ago, and far away.
The family was all there, and it seemed that each face
Beckoned, 'Turn aside a little while and a memory we'll retrace.'

Next I saw Sis, wrapped in momma's old sheet
And how it gracefully flowed down, to her bare dirty feet.
A stick in her hand, a paper crown, slightly askew
She ruled over, the little world that we knew.

With the coronation, when she began to reign
She was the Queen of Sheba, and I, the King of Cheyenne (Siam)
Now time has swept, our childish kingdoms away
And all that is left are, the memories we made.

Old scenes mixed with tears, as I called back the years
And each memory in turn helped regain
The lost splendor of, a time that once was
With the Queen of Sheba, and the King of Cheyenne

Sis is grown, with a world of her own,
Life took us, our separate ways
But if you met her today, you'd surely say:
'She never gave up her throne.'

Interesting how one can see how some childhood traits are brought forward to their reality of today.Nicely put Paul
