Remembering You Poem by Michael Peterson

Remembering You

Rating: 5.0

It's been many years since we last met
Where has the time gone
We were young and free
Our minds on the adventures we planned
Since we were kids making maps and making lists
Places we will go, treasures we will find
Growing up we have changed
Different roads and many places away
We have drifted far away
I have seen the world from the military eyes
You see them from the Television and the photos taken
Blood Brothers till the end
The pact we'll be friends forever
No letters or calls our lives have differed
Families and friends and life styles so different
Dreams and reality have been hard on us both
Illnesses and misfortunes changed us so
Time is flying by us so fast
Will we see each other before time ends?
Searching to see where you have gone
Your job has taken you afar
Mine has left me behind
Seeing the old neighborhood makes me think
Of the years gone by, the dreams left behind
Remembering the stories we created and forgot
The places we have been and the adventures we did
Where did our friendship go?
My blood Brother where have you gone
Older as we go, Minds fading fast
Will we share our lives before we go?
The roads that we took
The stories we made and adventures we took
To hang out one more time
To reminisce like boys of the past
To tell of our lives twists and turns
Having a beer or two
Then go our separate ways
To the lives we made
Always remembering you, my dear friend

Nice poem. A real life experience. This is similar to my poem: Song To My Childhood Friends. Take time to read my poems and comment
