Remembrance-The Gift Poem by BOEMS BY JA WIZDUMBs BY JA

Remembrance-The Gift

REMEMBRANCE- THE GIFT
It is we who charged you, pay the price
Your gift bequeathed, in sacrifice
For thee our praise and sorrow's spent
Now you the fallen, we lament

With virgin eyes and youth you went
Pure of heart, into the firmament
Thru bloodied ground and mangled flesh
You faltered not, our foe to thresh

Our grief lives still, for you who gave
Reposed in rows, grave on grave
Names engraved, on honored scrolls
Wars horror etched, upon your souls

Your gift in life, a selfless bent
Your gift in death, our freedom lent
This gift we treasure, shall not be lost
Such a courageous effort, your life it cost

The gift you gave, lives on today
Freedom to express, what we wish to say
A price so great, we never meant
LEST WE FORGET, we now lament
