Reminiscence Poem by Pragya Deb Burman

Reminiscence

I recall the wondrous days spent in the cool woods,
Where I'd love to return, If only I could;
The breeze gently scented with a tinge of fresh pine,
Scampering, innocent squirrals,
Whistling birds breaking the lull-
Clear blue skies, blushing a deep wine
As they make way for the starlit night.
Fragrant night air- And the world was mine!

Silence-
Only the rare twittering of birds and the cricket,
In harmony with the sapphire sky, brightly lit;
The trees sigh and I marvel at this Creation,
Which has remained so perfect, ever since.

Sleep-
Never slumbered so deep-
Not a worry, discovered pure peace;
And I woke up with the golden sun at dawn,
Breathing in the very essence of nature,
And had a feeling that I'd been reborn.

Alas-
My dream's been shattered
For that was yesterday-
The limpid skies have frowned to grey,
And the world's no more an inviting door-
Waiting to be explored;
Life no longer seems the same-
No smiling faces, we all live in vain.

Though our hopes may lie low,
And the future seem grim
For the children of tomorrow-
Yet it's a solace to know
That the sun still radiates its warmth through the darkened clouds,
Touches every life, and helps Man reason,
In a world of doubts.
