Rescue Me Poem by Tabitha Lane

Rescue Me

I only hear loud screaming,
His footsteps stomping up the stairs

What should I do?
I’m scared

My bedroom door slams open,
My body shakes as if I were cold

I know what’s going to happen,
It always does

Slammed against the wall,
Falling to the floor

Slapped across my face,
Make-up will not hid these marks

Mom’s at work,
Nobody here to save me

I want him to stop,
Only feeling more pain

I’m sorry,
What did I do wrong?

Tears come,
Still nobody here to save me

I beg him to stop,
Hits me harder

Mom’s back from work,
Bruises all over my body

Stares at me,
does nothing but walk away
When will it end?
