Revelation Poem by Bryan Riley

Revelation

Cartoon faces
peering out of
stained-glass
roses
Pretending and
assuming
diffident poses
Silver shot rings
through the smoke
They shudder and
choke and stoke
the flames
Wavering, though
still alive
to stand and
watch you as
you drive
The winter
landscape
pale and stark
I don't know
what you look like
but I'll love you
in the dark
