Revenge Poem by Shruti Goswami

Revenge

Like a fish takes to water;
I take to love;
When the sky gives me a rainbow;
I fly a thousand doves.
When I was tired and weary;
The trees gave me shade and repose;
The river in its own way;
Strains of music did compose.
And I gave back to them;
My silent gratitude;
Unspoken words and feelings;
Which are never misconstrued.
They never ask, what I had done for them;
Even the grass I tread upon;
Never did complain.
I cried out oh so oft;
With the burning rays;
Of the sun aloft;
And then came rushing
A parcel of clouds;
Showered all it had;
And left me gushing;
With joy profound.
But why then at the dawn of twilight;
When living on is but just a fight;
Do I not feel the cool breeze that soothed my soul;
Instead hot flashes lash with fury;
For miles I find not a single tree;
Nor any birds flying by, on a singing spree.
My heart is parched, with crevice and crack;
The Earth, she is too; as nature fights back.
