Revolution Poem by Haley Revell

Revolution

Here we are now
But where have we been
Spinning across time
From original sins

To be who we are
We must kill and betray,
Are we living in hell?
Or angels have gone astray?

Hatred in men’s eyes
Is all I can see,
But this is honor
Or so we are to believe

What is wrong is always right
So here we stand
Prepared to fight with
Guns in our hands

Revolution, it’s time to set things straight
We’re not living in a fantasy land
Or standing at Heaven’s gate
Revolution, it’s time to stop the war,
In turn fight for a better day
That might be worth something more

You see it on T.V
Another one gunned down
Violence in cold blood,
It is the only sound.

Another rape, another crime
Another suicide
Written on page nine
Next to the late night homicide

You were born to die
And this I understand
But I don’t want to be sent to my grave
By another person’s hands

Prejudiced, you don’t like the color of his skin,
Don’t like her gender, or maybe where she’s been,
But can I ask you something,
What makes you better than them?

Revolution, it’s time to set things straight
We’re not living in a fantasy land
Or standing at Heaven’s gate
Revolution, it’s time to stop the war,
In turn fight for a better day
That might be worth something more

Revolution, it’s time to stop the hate,
We’re living in hell,
That will never change,
It’s time for a REVOLUTION! !
